farmers equipment
started this week at farmers i pulled a motor and tranny replaced rear steer axle bushings and did some services it is a great experience and i have learned whatever you are working on its all knowledge in the bank.

isx valve ajustment
i bared the engine over to the top dead center made sure the rocker arms moved freely loosened injector nut and adjusted to 70 inch pounds then tightened thee nut. then loosened lock nuts for the intake was0.014 and the exhaust was 0.027 then tightened the lock nuts. i have a total of 278 hours for this quarter.

working on the dodge 5.9 litter the codes thrown are po201 threw po206 which are injection controls meaning there is something going on with the wiring harness. the fca is a electronically controlled solenoid the ecm controls the amount of fuel that enters the high pressure pumping chambers.there are 2 elements and they run 95 amps at 12 volts to each intake elements. you have to go to the atm test to activate the wiper and horn relay.

worked on the 16 cylinder cat this week removed the head piston and liner. i have found it informative i can work out of a manual just like if i was doing it in the field. i also worked on the max force i am starting to figure out how to get around the different sections of the program. also the #2 thermostat did not operate properly.

bearing analysis
so the bearing corrosion is caused by low maintenance on the lubrication contaminants. also the three thermostats opened at 1 190 2 170 3 180 they all opened and closed. i learned on the failure analysis you need to really research before making a decision.

the two types of bearing analysis that could make those markings would probably be 1 shifted bearing cap and also excessive crush these are two possibility's.

my last week at cowden it has been a great experience i have learned a lot of valuable knowledge in the past six months that i can take with me to other jobs. i worked a total of 45 hours this week.

first week of school
i am glad we are going over the electrical i defiantly need to touch base with it. also worked 40 hours at cowden this week i did two clutches and a lot of services so it was a busy week.

cowden
it has been a busy summer besides the normal maintenance on all of the equipment we have had a mixer truck get hit and have had to put a new front end on. a dump truck roll over that we put a new front end on and also a new trunnion on. a new tranny in another truck that is just some of the things we have been working on. i also have done some seat reupholstering. i have learned that you are not always turning a wrench you need to be ready for anything that comes up. i have a total of 197 hours for the month of july.

cowden
this past week has been a busy one we have had a tranny blow from driver error a truck truck roll over while dumping driver error and also bad cylinder design.we have also had a radiator blow due to hitting a pot hole and having bad rear motor mounts. and still trying to keep up on services. i have learned its not always just the trucks wearing out sometimes the drivers help out. in the past seven days i have worked 67.30 hours . i will have pictures next blog.

I have already done the flow meeter in class and on Friday was able to do a tranny at work i took out the old tranny and took off all the fittings and sensors swapped them on the new eaton and put it back in. i have learned that there is a lot more to removing a transmission then doing it in class although it gives you a good idea on whats going on. sorry no pictures.

IT was a great experience hosting the danish students the past couple weeks.i have learned a lot about their culture and have been able to teach and show them about ours. i can only suggest that next year even if you are not hosting a student you should be involved in activities with them and get to know them.

air breaks
i have worked on quiet a few breaks and wheel seals since starting at cowden. i have learned there are all types of brakes and different types of slack adjusters and wheel seals . always pay attention.

i was doing a standard break job on a pup trailer replacing the pads and the drum. when i took the pads off i noticed the pads were worn unevenly so i checked the s cam and noticed the bushings were worn . i have learned that you always need to pay attention to what you are working on because it can indicate other problems.

06 yamaha 450and tc 450
replaced my stock clutch on my wr 450 with a recluse auto shifting clutch i also replaced my handle bars and put a scotts steering dampener on. changed the oil and cleaned the air filters in the wr and the tc 450. we repacked the wheel bearings and checked the brakes we also sealed a couple of leaks these project took a total of 18 hours. i have a total of 59 hours this month and a total of 302 hours for the quarter.
work source scholarship
i have spent a considerable amount of time working on getting this scholarship i have done a lot of research and went and interviewed potential employers. i spent a total of 16 hours on this project.
1985 chevy mini wini engine swap
installed air bags on the rear axel we jacked up rear of the motor home took out bump stops we installed brackets and air bags ran air lines to air compressor and wired the air compressor. we also spent a good amount of time sealing the roof of the motor home in all this project took a total of 15 hours on thees projects.
toyota forklift
installed water pump new thermostat filled with coolant also hooked up exhaust and installed oil dipstick finished the project this took a total of 10 hours.

8.3 cummins
2/16/27/28/29 installed piston packs into engine hooked push rods up to crank installed main bearings torqued top spec. also installed crank timing gear heated to 300 degrees and installed then timed it to the cam also installed oil pump. 2/28 installed timing gear cover we had to pull the cam and oil pump and installed back of timing gear cover reinstalled the cam and oil pump installed rear crank seal and rear main oil seal. also worked on toyota forklift . 2/29 taped out oil pan drain plug and put a plug in it also installed oil pan went to asbtc and presented Denmark cd. then went and worked on toyota forklift . i have a total of 38 hours and a month total of a 151hors and 30 minutes.

2/8/12 installed wax solenoid for the idle control of the fuel injection. also adjusted idle this took 4 hours.

2/13/12 adjusted fuel system and bled turned over and got smoke. also adjusted mx-3 clutch spent a total of 6 hours on this project.

2/22/2012 RAUL AND I spent the day researching so that we could get funding for class field trips/a bbq and funds for Denmark we are now the diesel reps for the class. with research i have spent a total of 8 hours on this.

2/21/12 installed radiator changed the oil @ installed the valve covers spent a total of 3hours on this including picking up the radiator /water pump /thermostat.
1985 chevy mini wini engine swap
2/10/11/12/18/2012 we spent a considerable amount of time on this project we started by pulling the front grill and core support @ radiator pulled out the tiered 350 small block we then replaced the front seal on the turbo 400 tranny and changed the filter.we then installed a 454 big block. we found a serpentine system for it. it was quiet the project to do in a driveway but we completed the task and it runs great i spent a total of 30 hours on this project.
worker retraning and scholarship
2/9/12 and2/13/12 i went to the dislocated workers class at work source and found out that i could get a scholarship threw them. i then met with daniel reedman and was able to get all of the paper work that it takes to get the scholarship. i have a total of 10 hours worth of recherche and foot work on this project.

toyota forklift
in the last couple weeks i have been working on a toyota forklift. I cleaned and prepared surfaces for new head gaskets and intake manifold gaskets i installed heads torqued them to spec installed intake manifold/installed exhaust manifolds /distributor/pushrods /rocker arms and adjusted valve lash. i have also removed the radiator and had it cleaned and repaired
with running around and doing some research i have spent 27 hours and 30 minutes on this project.

92 toyota truck timing belt
2/3/12 on this project i worked on a 92 toyota pickup. i installed new rear brake shoes i also installed a fuel filter. i also replaced the timing belt/water pump and installed a new radiator and hoses. this took a total of 14 hours with a trip to the store.

92 mx-3 clutch
2/2/12 we spent the day removing the motor mounts axles air box battery speedometer cable and the transmission. we then removed and replaced the pressure plate clutch and throw out bearing. we spent a total of 8 hours 30 minutes on this project.

1120 3 cyl compact tractor motor
2/1/12 worked on starting motor today. found out that u should never try to adjust the fuel system unless you are a fuel injection specialist. we also took apart one of the injectors and cleaned it we discovered that it had some sticky mechanisms we spent a total of 6 hours & 30 minutes trying to figure out the fuel.

looking for internship
I have spent considerable amount of time looking for an internships i went to several different diesel shops.here is a list of them motor trucks/ seiara pacific cat dealership ludkey trucking and pape machinery i spent a total of 20 hours looking for a internship so far. i have a total of 91 hours &30 minutes this quarter.

1 /31/ 12 tried to start compact motor today. trouble shot the fuel system. we finally got fuel to injectors but still did not get it to run yet. i do not have any pictures do to the fact that my phone broke today. i had a total of 6hours thirty minutes today.
ford tempo
1/27/12 ford tempo installed new exhaust from the catalytic converter back also installed new front brakes pads & rear brake shoes. i repacked wheel bearings and bleed the brakes this took a total of 8 hours.

1120 3 cyl compact tractor motor
1/24/12 did research on the torque specs on a 3 cyl compact tractor motor . spent a total of 7 hours on this project.
cummins 8.3
replaced soft plugs in cummins 8.3 project. then hot tanked the block to clean any dab re from the block. we replaced a total of 8 soft plugs. we then measured the cam lobs journals intake 1.75 @ 2.75 exhaust 1.70 & 2.01 bearing s 2.364. then lubricated lobs and bearings with lubraplate assembly lube. installed cam. spent 8 hours on this spent another 4 hours researching 7.3 litter power stroke.

cummins 8.3
1/10and 1/11/12 Assembled pistons to connecting rods.first we arranged all of the parts to be installed
we put the snap ring in one side of piston and aline connecting rods with piston. we then lubricated the piston pin with 15/40 oil and connected the piston and connecting rod together. we then put piston rings on pistons be sure to be careful when installing them for they are very brittle . we made sure that the opening of the rings are 120 degrees out from one another. lubricate the piston and piston sleeve with 15/40. use a ring compressor and slowly tap piston into piston sleeve.i spent a total of 16 hours on this and research.
